Cardpointe Overview

Cardpointe is Pistachio’s integrated credit card processor. As a merchant, you will likely need to interact directly with Cardpointe. This article gives you an overview of what to expect.

Cardpointe <> Pistachio integration

Pistachio is integrated with Cardpointe in 2 ways, with plans to add additional integrations in the future.

Physical credit card terminals: When you sign up for Cardpointe, you will have a physical credit card terminal provisioned to you. Once configured in Pistachio, you’ll be able to write up an order in Pistachio and use the physical terminal to capture payment, which is considered a card-present transaction - lower fees for you.

Cardpointe’s terminals use highly secure P2PE technology to help you stay PCI compliant and eliminate the need for expensive hardware setup.

Integrated credit card form: You can also type the credit card information into Pistachio using the credit card form. This is considered a card-not-present transaction and will incur higher fees than using the terminal.

Setting up your terminal

Once you receive your terminal, email your Customer Success Manager at Pistachio your HSN number (this can be found in your shipping email from Cardpointe or in the device info on the terminal). We’ll configure your device on the backend. Once configured you just need to set the terminal in “Customer Mode”, open Pistachio in a web browser that’s connected to the same wifi as the terminal, and you’ll see an option to use the terminal in the checkout flow.

Cardpointe Virtual Terminal

Once your Cardpointe account is approved, you’ll also have access to the Cardpointe website and virtual terminal. In the unlikely event that there is a service disruption with Pistachio, you can still process credit card transactions using the Cardpointe Virtual Terminal.
The Cardpointe Virtual Terminal also allows you to refund to customers’ cards, cancel transactions, and view additional information about your transactions.
